The Department of Medicine offers comprehensive medical care across various specialties, including Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Nephrology, Chest Medicine, and Gastroenterology. With a team of dedicated specialists and visiting consultants, the department provides emergency, inpatient, outpatient, and intensive care, supporting patients from initial consultation through advanced treatment and follow-up.

Emergency and Inpatient Care

The department provides around-the-clock emergency care and manages a busy inpatient unit, treating a variety of conditions like infectious diseases, stroke, chronic liver and kidney diseases, coronary artery disease, and chronic obstructive airway disease.

Outpatient Services

General outpatient services run from Monday to Friday, managing new consultations and chronic care follow-ups. The department sees an average of 3,807 outpatients each month.

3. Cardiology Services

The Cardiology Division offers:

  • Inpatient and outpatient consultations
  • Emergency cardiac care
  • Diagnostic procedures, including ECG, echocardiography (including transesophageal), and Holter monitoring

4. Gastroenterology Services

In addition to inpatient and outpatient consultations, the Gastroenterology Division provides:

  • Upper Gastrointestinal Endoscopy
  • Colonoscopy
  • Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)

5. Nephrology Services

The Nephrology Division offers:

  • Inpatient and outpatient nephrology consultations
  • 24/7 dialysis for both emergency and scheduled patients
  • Monthly specialized nephrology clinics
  • Referrals for patients in stage V chronic kidney disease (CKD) for transplants abroad

6. Diabetes Clinic

The Diabetes Clinic operates every Tuesday and Wednesday, providing:

  • Medication and health education for newly diagnosed patients
  • Comprehensive diabetic management and follow-up
  • Inpatient Care: Treated 1,564 patients with an average of 130 monthly admissions
  • Outpatient Services: Managed approximately 3,807 patient visits per month
  • Common Conditions Treated: Infectious diseases, strokes, chronic liver and kidney diseases, coronary artery disease, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

The Department of Medicine is committed to medical education, supporting the training of residents and interns through hands-on clinical experience and mentorship. Visiting specialists contribute to knowledge-sharing and skill-building across various subspecialties, including neurology, infectious disease, and geriatric medicine.
