Histopathology Section
The Histopathology Section is staffed by a team of experienced pathologists, supported by skilled technical personnel. This unit specializes in processing and examining cellular samples from various sites for accurate diagnosis.
Services Provided
- Histopathological Processing: Comprehensive sample processing, including biopsies, surgical specimens, exfoliative cytology specimens, and fine needle aspiration (FNAC) from various procedures (e.g., endoscopy, colonoscopy, colposcopy).
2. Staining Techniques:
- Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) staining
- Special Stains for specific diagnostic needs
- Basic Immunohistochemistry for detecting specific antigens
- Frozen Sections for rapid on-site assessment during surgeries
Technology and Equipment
The Histopathology Section is equipped with advanced technology to ensure precise and efficient processing:
- Thermo Scientific Grossing Station
- STP 120 Microm Automated Tissue Processor with a TP 120 backup
- Semi-Automated Sakura Tissue-Tek Embedding Station
- Automated Stainer
- Multi-Headed Microscopes for collaborative diagnosis
Turnaround Time
- Standard TAT: Results are typically available within 10 days.
- Special Investigations: Specimens requiring advanced testing are referred to Dr. Lal Path Laboratory in India.
Reporting and Results
All results are recorded in the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and are available at the common report dispatch counter on the ground floor.
