POST NATAL & FAMILY PLANNING

To provide high quality post-natal (after delivery) checkup, family planning and screening services to all women commensurate with existing policies of the royal government.

Reproductive Health Screening Services

Prevention of mortality and morbidity due to cervical cancer.

EPI (Vaccination Services)

To minimize the risk of vaccine-preventable diseases by ensuring highest standards of immunization and improve the nutritional status of the under-five population group.

Voluntary Counsel & Testing (VCT)

To prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS and to ensure that no child is born infected with HIV

Adolescent Friendly Health Services

To reach out sexual and reproductive and related services to adolescents/boys and girls, both in and out of school by making health services youth friendly, as well as gender sensitive.

Health Information Service Center (HISC):

To prevent the spread of HIV infection, to care for those infected and affected by HIV/AIDS and to provide outreach and support to the community

General Information

The Community Health Department (CHD) at JDWNRH provides a wide range of health services, including maternal and child health, immunizations, reproductive health, adolescent health, lactation support, and more. It serves as a training ground for health professionals and conducts health outreach and community support activities.

The department was established in 2009 when Reproductive Health Units in all 20 Dzongkhags were renamed Community Health Units. It was given departmental status in 2012.

Maternal and Child Health Services

The CHD offers antenatal and postnatal care, maternal exercise programs, and lactation management services for breastfeeding support. HIV, and malaria. All testing is confidential and handled by trained healthcare professionals.

Expectant mothers are encouraged to have at least eight antenatal visits throughout their pregnancy to ensure optimal health for both mother and baby.

Postnatal care is provided in three visits after delivery, focusing on the health and recovery of the mother and newborn.

Family Planning and Reproductive Health

The department offers a variety of family planning services, including counseling and methods suitable for women aged 15-49. Permanent methods are available through registration.

Yes, Pap smear screening is provided to detect early signs of cervical abnormalities. Follow-up intervals depend on individual results and may be every six months, annually, or every three years.

A colposcopy is a procedure to examine the cervix more closely if abnormal cells are detected during a Pap smear. The CHD offers this service biweekly, on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Adolescent Health Services

The Adolescent Friendly Health Services program serves individuals aged 10-19, offering daily walk-in and appointment services for health consultations, education, and support.

Both walk-ins and appointments are accepted, ensuring that adolescent health needs are met conveniently.

Immunization and Growth Monitoring

The CHD provides vaccinations according to the national immunization schedule, along with growth monitoring every month for children under two years and every three months for children ages 3-5. Vitamin A and deworming supplements are administered every six months. women aged 15-49. Permanent methods are available through registration.

No appointment is necessary; the CHD provides immunization services according to the schedule.

Diagnostic and Laboratory Services

The CHD offers diagnostic services like urine albumin and sugar testing, primarily for antenatal and postnatal clients, in coordination with the Laboratory Department.

In 2017, the average waiting time was about 7 minutes, with 95% of clients seen within 30 minutes.

On average, clients spend approximately 14 minutes receiving services at the CHD, with some appointments requiring more or less time depending on the service.

Does the CHD offer outreach services?

Yes, the CHD conducts monthly and bimonthly outreach programs in rural and semi-rural communities, including religious centers and schools.
