General OPD
The General OPD was initially established as a Filter Clinic in the early 1990s, primarily staffed by medical officers and assistant clinical officers (ACOs). It was renamed to General OPD in 2014, marking the inclusion of general practitioners and medical officers. The clinic is located on the ground floor of the old hospital building.
Core Functions of General OPD
- Patient Management: Treats patients attending the general and pediatric OPDs.
- Referrals: Directs patients to specialized OPDs as needed.
- Triage and Treatment: Handles patient flow during evening clinics, weekends, and holidays, reducing pressure on the Emergency Department.
- Special Duties: Assists with Parliament duties, VVIP, and sports event duties as required.

Staffing
The General OPD is staffed by specialists in General Practice, medical officers, and clinical officers.
Future Plans
- Plans include expanding the G-OPD’s services by having medical officers perform minor surgical procedures in the minor OT, allowing surgeons more time for complex, specialized surgeries.
